Week 1: Today, Thursday May 25th, marks a week since we were sent to the hospital with a very sick baby.
I am still having a hard time accepting this is truly happening! But thanks be to God for my husband Jeremy, who is often reminding me of the goal ahead of us. We are here to do anything in our hands to help Julia's healing journey. “Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.”
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 NLT
I’ve never been more thankful for him than in this season. My husband wrote a couple of update to our kids this week and I believe these were perfectly summarized. I just copied and pasted here:
5/24 - UPDATE
“God is good. Julia is responding very well to chemotherapy. Her WBC were at 120,000 at diagnosis. Then went down to 90,000 with transfusions.
Then after spinal tap and 5 mg of chemo it dropped to 60,000
And today after blood results and chemotherapy 17 mg. Her WBC is only 9,000. God is good and answers prayers. Keep praying for her please 🙏🏽”
Update: Thursday 5/25/23
“Chemo has been very effective thus far, Julia’s WBC are now only 800 and blast are at 900. They were originally both at 120,000 WBC and 56,000 blast. So chemotherapy has almost completely removed all the bad cancer cells.
God is good and is answering prayers 🙏🏽 Julia will possibly be able to go home tomorrow night 5/26. But, only after it shows she has zero blasts in her blood. Keep her in prayer 🙏🏽 still.
Then we will come back Wednesday for another spinal tap and small chemo dose to keep treating her and a round of transfusions. So it will be 9-5 on Wednesday, and return once a week every Wednesday. “
The Oncology team managing Julia’s health are amazing so far. They have been so patient answering our questions and detailed in explaining the road map for the month ahead. They have family therapists on site that have made this stay at the hospital so much more enjoyable for our Juju! Providing games, crafts, toys, friendship. It has made this bitter experience, a little sweet for her!
Jeremy and I feel very confident in the team treating Julia, she is already looking so much better. Her color has returned, she was very pale when she arrived to the hospital, and the fevers have seized. We have immense faith that God has already given us so much favor and understanding, many prayers have been answered.
We are thankful for each one of you that have prayed for Julia and been attentive asking for updates. Hopefully this will serve as a central point of communication and updates - humbled by all the outpouring of love and support! Blessings to each of you a 100 fold!
In God we Trust!
