Julia's Dream care team - Celebrating her last Lumbar Puncture chemo
Julia's Dream care team - Celebrating her last Lumbar Puncture chemo

Monday, July 28th  update

Hello Sweet Tribe,

As of today, we’re just 51 days away from the end of treatment – what a journey it has been!

Julia had her monthly clinic visit this past Friday (7/25), and we were greeted with a joyful surprise — her treatment bay was decorated with the message: “Hip Hip Hooray, Your Last LP is Today!” It was such a touching and surreal moment, and we are deeply grateful.

This marked the start of her final cycle in maintenance. Juju had her last lumbar puncture with chemo, her last chemo infusion, and she’s now halfway through her final round of five days of oral steroids. What a milestone!

Her labs did show a low ANC, which might mean her body is fighting off a new virus (though she hasn’t shown any symptoms). While under sedation, she did have a coughing episode that required a quick intervention, but thankfully she’s doing well. We’ll go back in a couple of weeks to recheck her labs.

We would so appreciate your continued prayers for a strong finish, pray for the few side effects that are showing up — eczema/rash mainly on her hands, and some bone/joint pain. Please join us in praying that her body flushes out the lingering meds and that her immune system returns to full strength.

Now some exciting news: we have a tentative date for her end-of-treatment celebration, which would be the exact day of her last oral chemo dose! Thursday, September 18th at 2:00 PM – Kaiser Anaheim. I’ll send out a formal invitation next month after i am 100% sure this will work with out team, if you’re able to join us and watch our little sunshine hit the gong, we would love to celebrate with you and praise God for His faithfulness.

Looking ahead, Juju is also potentially having surgery in October to remove her chest port, and possibly the cyst on her left thigh depending on an upcoming ultrasound. This will be the one last big event in this journey after she is done with her treatment.

I never get tire of thanking you. Your prayers, encouragement, and love have carried us through more than we can express. God has been so faithful, and I’m starting to reflect on all the answered prayers along the way. I hope to share more with you soon – there’s so much to be thankful for.

This month, Julia has been happily busy with her butterflies — helping new ones every day! She’s also become the proud caretaker of our hens, which brings endless giggles. I see so much growth in her this summer. Parenting her is a gift, and I know God has a beautiful purpose for her life.

Sending love, gratitude, and a joyful heart💛

Enjoy this little recap of Julia’s July!

"So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you."

Deuteronomy 31: 6

Our hope is in the Lord!
