End of Intensification - Week 8

Sunday 8/27 - 8:pm update

We’ve seen God’s faithfulness sustaining Julia down to the last minute before clinic. Thursday we went back to check her numbers, she was depleted & critically needed blood & platelets. Picture above is before the blood products, we could not even touch her or pick her up, everything even as simple as taking her out of her car seat would hurt her body. Transfusions were successful & by evening time, she went back to her normal playful ways.

Wins we experienced this last week, in spite of the above;

• Julia’s appetite has been great, and she gained 2 lbs.

• Her port access (needle in her chest port) was a little better this week.

Tomorrow juju starts her last week of intensification, week 8. Only one chemotherapy and potentially blood products.

Prayer Request:

• Julia’s bone marrow to restart again and start making up the healthy white/red blood cells that her body needs.

• Minimal side effects with the one chemo, her body to dispose toxicity and to fight & remain strong.

• Blood product to be readily available.

• Peace & confidence as we get the full plan for the next phase “Intermediate Intensification”, we have questions and concerns and we need God’s wisdom, understanding & clarity to have this discussion with her doctors.

I am so thankful for you all! For continually reading these updates  & praying for our little sunshine Julia. I am confident God is hearing you and answering.

Earlier this week this one devotional ‘Pearls of Great Price’ by one of my favorites/mentors Joni E Tada, really got my attention. In a trial like this it is easy to lose sight if our eyes are not fix on who God is and believing/knowing He is working behind the scenes, I pray it blesses you.

“Behind the Scenes Miracles

Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet they believe.

John 20:29

Many Christians don't see God in their trials. If no miracles are happening - if the floods aren't receding or the cancer

is not in remission - God must not be at work. We think of miracles as the kind we witnessed in the movie The Ten Commandments. "Those ten

plagues on Egypt, now that was God up to something." Agreed, frogs and lice in Pharaoh's bed made for a great film years ago. Ah, but if we could only watch the real movie of how God runs the world from behind the scenes . ..

Oh, the infinite complexity of it all!…the balancing act of weather systems across the globe that assure the arrival of summer…the exact number of white blood cells called into action to defeat your illness- that will win an Oscar.

The delicately balanced, invisible workings of our great God- this is real drama.

Meanwhile, he wants us to trust him. As Jesus told skeptical Thomas after the resurrection, "Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

So why do we still doubt? Perhaps we cannot find wrapping paper wide enough to package these truths neatly. No one can grasp the Almighty and his miracles. "Even angels long to look into these things" (1 Peter 1:12). However, our inability to comprehend something doesn't make it untrue or any less miraculous.

As Paul put it, "How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!" Romans 11:33). Count his miracles today .. and thank him.”
