A Miracle? & Week 5 in Intensification

Monday, 8/7 - 10pm update

We had a bitter sweet week! A little bit of fun playing in the kiddie pool, a run to the ER due to vomiting/dehydration, a restless night due to a stomach bug, and lots of princess play, nails…We are thankful we made it to today’s clinic appointment for Julia’s week 5 of 8 treatment in the intensification phase.

A snap shot at how unpredictable her blood numbers are: last Wednesday she could not start treatment because her ANC was short at 740, Saturday’s ER visit her ANC rose to over 17k (indicating an infection/virus), today her count was at 1k - she needed 750 🙏🏼💕 it’s a true roller coaster.

Prayer Request:

• Mild/No physical side effects (nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, fevers). May these be kept at bay.

• Protection in this round of medications for the next two weeks, this round is supposed to drop her blood counts significantly potentially needing blood/platelets (all special order due to Coombs)

• Juju’s appetite - she already lost some weight. We need her to be interested in food🙏🏼

• Watchful eyes for us caring for our little sunshine! Wisdom from God, renewed strength to be a team. Jeremy & I will be administering chemo via IV at home for the next 3 days x2 (next week) & 14 days oral chemo - we need patience and diligence with each other.

Quick PRAISE GOD!!!! moment - today in my conversation with juju’s 2nd/partner Oncologist - I asked her if she heard about Julia’s seizure last week since she is the one who administer the LP with the medication that caused it. She responded “Yes, I heard of the febrile seizure”, I said I believe it was not a febrile seizure, juju had not had fevers at all before or after the seizure. The other doctor & CHOC’s on-call Oncologist had confirmed the culprit was definitely rooted from the lumbar puncture chemo meds, brain toxicity. (Irrelevant) I also mentioned I had a baby (Miguel) who had a febrile seizure when he was an infant, we’ve seen what that looks like, it was next level different. She argued back “well febrile seizures can look different, if it was toxicity there would have been change in the white matter of the brain” - at that very statement my heart leaped with JOY! I kind of smiled at her and said this could had been a miracle from God! Seriously she gave me a 😳look!LOL🙌🏼 Jesus protected my little sunshine’s brain! No shadow of a doubt! All her test came back clear.  All of your prayers were heard! (thank you) and nothing will convince me different.

Also the doctor said, due to the seizure they will hold back another LP with the same chemo/med in the near future! Until much later, and provide after seizure med to go along with it. I love both of our Oncologists, we feel truly blessed & are beyond thankful for them and respect them immensely. But in this event the Great Physician was at work. God is so Good and to Him be All Glory 🙌🏼
